CAMP CURRICULUM

DSC_0304.JPG
Diamond Club Summer Camps are focused on the ultimate goal of making the game of baseball a fun and rewarding experience for each camper we work with.  Our curriculum centers on teaching the correct fundamentals, drill processes, and mental approach, regardless of age or ability level.  Because of our low camper to coach ratio (6:1), coaches are able to effectively teach each player the proper progressions based on his skill set, day-to-day and week-to-week.  Players are separated into groups based on their age and take part in drills and competitions within their division in order to ensure the best possible competitive balance for a fun and developmental experience while at camp.  Whether you are just beginning to play or are an accomplished travel ball player, every camper will learn what they can improve upon to reach their potential.
In order to make the game as engaging as possible, our curriculum helps define what success looks like for baseball players.  In a sport full of statistics and failure, players need to understand that success is more than just a box score.  Are you learning the proper fundamentals to hit the baseball hard?  (As a side note, that is the number one thing we hear from kids as to what makes the game fun!)  Do you know what it means to make a productive out, to move a runner, to sacrifice bunt or hit a sacrifice fly?  Do you understand that as a pitcher, it is about throwing strikes and working efficiently?  Do you know how to properly strengthen and maintain a healthy arm?  We strive to make players aware of not only 'how we change patterns and habits', but 'why' it is important to change and what positive impact that change will have on results.
Players will leave camp with various drills they can use to correct and enhance their skills, as well as an understanding of how to practice and prepare for game time.  We stress the importance of hard work, quality repetitions, focused intensity, positive attitude and the responsibility each player has to his teammates, coaches, parents and himself!
